It was the middle of the night when the family was awoken by a large booming sound. Fortunately they quickly smelled smoke and escaped unharmed. It was later discovered that electrical repairs made to the transformer in their community earlier that day sent a surge to the main electrical panel in their basement.
The explosion sent flames blazing up the walls and through the roof of the single family home in McLean, VA. Fairfax County Fire and Rescue crews responded to the two alarm scene immediately and encountered fire and smoke rising from the rear of the house. The home suffered catastrophic damage from fire, smoke, and water.
After firefighters worked to extinguish flames for over an hour, Minkoff Company was retained to perform restoration services, from the initial stabilization to full reconstruction. Every room in the 6,000 square foot home was damaged and restored within a year.
